Former Miss Soweto honours her journey by giving back to the needy

Former White Star Miss Soweto 2022, Tsakane Sono visited Ellen Glen Home for children with special needs as part of the Miss Soweto 2022 charity handover on November 23, at Snake Park, Block 5.

As a way of celebrating and honouring her journey as Miss Soweto reigning queen, Sono decided to make a positive impact by giving back to the community and providing support to those in need.

According to Sono, in most communities children with special needs can be forgotten and also be misunderstood hence she and White Star decided to remember them by donating an enormous quantity of White Star products and sanitary towels so as to end hunger and period poverty.

“This is the home I have been volunteering at since 2019. I have been working with an organisation called YOGA Cares and over the past years we have managed to paint the Ellen Glen home facility as well as transforming the inside of the home including fixing the kitchen and the toilet,” said Sono.

She added that the home is still in need of sponsors and if there is anyone who is willing to lend a hand and give back to the community, it would be great if they can consider the Ellen Glen Home for children with special needs.

The children and the management were really excited to see the former Miss Soweto. She was warmly welcomed, and as a way of showing appreciation her many photos were hung up across the building’s exterior.
