Body of 21-year-old recovered from Klip River

The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services Aquatic Rescue Unit together with SAPS Water Wing made the discovery as the search entered its sixth day on Friday.

EMS cautions people to put safety first when conducting rituals in the river.

The Emergency Management Services (EMS) search and rescue team have discovered the body believed to be that of the 21-year-old male who washed away during an alleged cleansing ritual on the Klip River stream in Olifantsvlei over the weekend.

The body was recovered a few kilometers from where the body of 18-year-old Ayaphiwe Ndothi was found on Wednesday.

The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services Aquatic Rescue Unit together with SAPS Water Wing made the discovery as the search entered its sixth day on Friday.

”The operational teams have recovered the body of a male few kilometers where the female body was discovered two days ago. We are waiting for the body to be identified,” EMS Spokesperson, Xolile Khumalo said.

Khumalo cautioned that traditional healers and prophets must ensure safety of pople when conducting any rituals.
