Search for missing boy in the Klip River ends in tragedy

“Residents should warn their children to stay away from rivers and streams since the water levels are high in the city."

The body of an 18-year-old male who fell into the Klip River was recovered by the Johannesburg emergency services during their search on Wednesday morning.

The teenager drowned into the stream when he slipped and fell while he was trying to cross the river.

Johannesburg EMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi reported that the 18-year-old slipped and fell into the river which was overflowing due to recent heavy rains on Tuesday.

“Residents should warn their children to stay away from rivers and streams since the water levels are high in the city,” said Mulaudzi.

The disruptive heavy rains have begun and children are more at risk as they are not cautious of the overflowing streams.

Residents are cautioned to always stay alert.
