Sisterhood foundation provides matric dance outfits

Gorgeous evening dresses with heels for girls and suits or tuxedos for boys were donated during the matric dance drive.

Sisterhood, a local foundation has once again embarked on one of its favourite initiatives, the matric dance drive.

This is where matric students receive matric dance outfits with the handover being held at Eldomaine Secondary School this past weekend.

According to the founder of Sisterhood Foundation, Alicia Solomons, the initiative is aimed at assisting matric learners especially those who wish to attend their matric dance ceremony but do not have the means to purchase costumes or accessories.

“Matric dance farewell is a greatest milestone and it is beautiful to see matric learners being excited because they found outfits of their dreams or even shoes.

“What made us really embark on this initiative is that most matric learners here in Eldorado Park come from disadvantaged backgrounds so through this initiative we want to close the gap and avoid them feeling left out,” said Solomons.

A number of matric girls and boys from Eldorado Park were provided with an opportunity to choose outfits of their choice.

“As a single parent I sometimes find it difficult to provide precious gifts for my daughter. So this initiative has really helped me a lot as I will now focus on just minor things because my baby girl has found a dress,” said Sibeko.
