Local author makes waves with new book

African Authors Award winner and speaker, Onkarabile Mokoto (37) has launched his ninth book.

The book titled Don’t quit your job yet is a self-help book for individuals who are exploring how to turn their side hustles into permanent income.

The overall lesson of the book is to encourage readers to believe that they can pursue their visions while still in a full-time job until their ventures are stable enough to sustain them.

“I have seen many people be quick to quit their jobs to pursue their hustles, purposes, businesses, and callings, only to struggle to make ends meet when their initiatives don’t work out. When this happens, people become discouraged and concludes that side hustling, pursuing purpose, calling, or starting one’s own thing is only for the chosen few.

“However, the book encourages anyone that they can succeed in their side hustle or pursue their passions while still on their nine to five job,” said the father of two.

Topics covered in the book include -how to overcome the fear of losing your job to start your venture, how to use a job to fund your side hustle and how to manage and balance time between your Job and side hustle.

He said the book will empower and help readers explore effective methods of approach when one is looking to make the big jump.

“This book, unlike my previous books, is specifically targeted for people in the work space, employees, employers, and job seekers.

“I think it is necessary, especially at a time where we find ourselves as a country, people looking to build their legacies and respond to crises like unemployment.”

Eight books by Mokoto have been selected and recommended by the Gauteng Department of Education to be used in school libraries.

He added that his tenth book is now with the publisher and will be released next year, in what he hopes to continue inspiring and educating people.

“My passion is empowering and changing lives through writing and speaking. I keep writing in order to pass knowledge that will change lives.”
