In Pictures: Candle light Prayers for boys who died in biscuit mystery

The community of Naledi held a candle light prayer service for the bereaved families of Neo Kgang and Leon Jele at the New Life Church of the Nazarene in Soweto on Thursday evening.

The township was left reeling in shock after news of the death of the two boys spread. Kgang and Jele died after eating biscuits they allegedly bought at a local spaza shop.

The boys fell ill and were rushed to a local clinic where they were pronounced dead on Sunday.

Two other children, Katlego Mbatha and Olwethu Zikhali who were also involved in the incident are still in hospital. Zikhali was still in a critical condition.

“The matter is being probed by environmental health and the police are also investigating on their part to determine what type of poison was used to kill these children.

“We are certain that the law will take its course,” said SAPS officer Gasela, addressing the community, calling for calm.

The community has called for all foreign shops in the area to be shut down indefinitely.

The two boys will be laid to rest next week Wednesday.
