Magashule launches new political party in Soweto

The party has also been joined by well-known politicians and former members of prevalent political parties.

Former ANC secretary-general, Ace Magashule, has announced the launch of his new political party just months after being expelled from the ruling party. He made the announcement during a media conference held at Sakhumzi Restaurant on August 30.

Just like most South African political parties, Magashule’s new party, the African Congress for Transformation (ACT) referred to as the ‘Peoples party’ seeks to rise and fall on behalf of the people.

The party will announce its coalition in October.

With an ideology to uphold African Nationalism as their foundation pillar, ACT identifies as a new political home for the politically homeless, betrayed and the fatigued.

According to Magashule, the party has also been joined by well-known politicians and former members of prevalent political parties. The coalition and leadership of ACT will be announced in October.

“We have suffered collective betrayal as a people and a nation in the hands of people who claim to be our leaders. We have been sold out with few pieces of sliver and many towns are collapsing such as in the Vaal leaving the rate of unemployment skyrocketing,” Magashule said.

He added that the ANC of former president, Nelson Mandela and other political fighters has been betrayed and that its sacrifices are now in vain.

The party will announce its coalition in October.

“As ACT we will act against crime, unemployment, poverty, retrenchments, water and load shedding, hunger, GBV, discrimination and all forms of human abuse.

“We call on communities to join the new ship to freedom for all those who are weary and politically abused.”

Some of the known new members of ACT include fired Hawks boss, Berning Ntlemeza.
