During a visit to her business she told Urban News that her dreams were coming true.

“I am excited; this is really massive for a small baker like me. When I imagine how far along I’ve been baking and the years that I’ve put into driving this passion to see it pay off. How many years later after I lost my job that I have landed this opportunity? I’d be lying if I said it was my own doing, but it can only be God,” an emotional Radebe said.

She took some of the money from her previous workplace and invested it into her small business, and purchased an industrial oven and formalized her business registration into a corporate in 2018, naming it after her daughter.

Almost a month since signing the deal, she has already given the store several orders- putting out cake slices in a variety of flavours ranging from chocolate, vanilla and caramel.

“The brand is now sliced because usually they order big cakes but this then opens the gap to reach people for our establishment which can potentially translate to future clients for birthdays. This is also accessible to them at a cheaper rate without buying the whole cake.”

Radebe currently solely runs the bakery business at her home. She revealed that she has always been entrepreneurial- sharing that one of her proudest moments throughout her business was being able to get her small business to rank number one on Google.

In the pipeline, she said she hopes to take her baked goods to more stores across Soweto, becoming one of the biggest bakeries in the township. She also hopes to expand her range of offerings and create job opportunities for other aspiring bakers.
