“Through this initiative we are aiming at informing the learners about the danger that bullying, drugs and theft may pose to them. Lately we have been noticing bad behaviour from a lot of scholars in different school, so with this programme we want to help limit that” said Nxumalo.

Nxumalo added that not so long ago there was an accident where a learner was found with a hookah pen therefore the incident has made the JMPD to take action by trying to work with the teachers in order to reprimand learners from using any types of drugs.

All the stakeholders that were invited prepared informative presentations to help educate the scholars. Recovering drug addicts from Livelyhood Horizons were also given a platform to talk about their drug experience, how badly drugs affected them and what negative impact did drugs bring to their lives.

“Personally, I’m happy and ecstatic because lately we have been experiencing bullying and theft at school. So I think children will have a bit of discipline if they see all the people we have invited to come to and talk to them,” said a St Matthews educator, Palesa Mothibedi.
