“It is absolutely brilliant that Miss World South Africa will take place near Soweto.

“We need to make platforms like this accessible and attractive to everyone in South Africa. Well done, Miss World South Africa,” said the Executive Director at AfribizMedia, Pongo Pule.

Pule pointed out that previously, the licence to host Miss World SA had been held by Sun International, the organisers of the renowned Miss South Africa pageant.

However, this new development sees Bouwer become the first African woman to hold the licence in South Africa, thus taking over the responsibility and privilege of sending a representative to the Miss World pageant.

Carol Bouwer elaborated on the significance of holding the pageant in Soweto, expressing her desire to utilise the opportunity to empower local businesses.

Rather than relying on traditional venues, she aims to bolster businesses in Soweto by encouraging visitors to stay in local accommodations like BnBs during the Miss World SA pageant.

“Soweto’s selection as the host venue carries a meaningful message. The decision reflects a commitment to addressing social challenges and investing in underprivileged areas.

“By bringing such a high-profile event to Soweto, there is hope to positively impact the local community and create opportunities for economic growth.”

Bouwer’s vision for the event is to blend an authentic African experience with a global appeal, showcasing the nation’s rich culture and heritage without compromising its international standing.

The pageant is scheduled for October 28 and has attracted a diverse and truly representative list of entrants from around the country.

“The diversity of the pageant is an essential part of the reason I took the licence, as I firmly believe a platform such as Miss World SA has the power to embolden our nation’s trajectory towards true transformation and social cohesion,” said Bouwer.
