Dobsonville woman goes missing

A Dobsonville family pleads for public assistance in reuniting 32-year-old Katlego Mathope who disappeared without a trace.

The Mathope family in Dobsonville has described their daughter‘s disappearance as a nightmare and utter devastation to them.

They told Urban News they last saw and heard from the 32-year-old Katlego Mathope on July 7, which they believe was the day of her disappearance.

“My daughter normally comes and leaves on the same day but we frequently see her a lot during the week.

“So initially we just thought maybe she will come but after a week of not hearing from her, we just started worrying that something could be wrong, because it’s just unlike her.

“A week wouldn’t pass without her coming by because her children stay here,” explains a distraught Khumo Mathope, the father of the missing 32-year-old.

According to the family, on the day of her disappearance, she was at the house and left with her boyfriend who informed them that he too had not seen her and last saw her on July 7 when they went their separate locations after an argument.

“We heard she was here on the 7th and the boyfriend came and they left together but according to the boyfriend whom has been assisting us said they got into a tiff and that’s when they went their separate ways.

“This was apparently at another section of Dobsonville but that is the only information that we have on her last known whereabouts because she didn’t make it here since that day,” he adds.

The family filed a missing person’s case with the Dobsonville Police Station on July 21. Mathope said the family was intensifying their search at suspected drug houses in the area.

The family told Urban News that it recently got word that a person looking like katlego was seen in Dobsonville Ext3 but upon following up on the lead, they did not find her.

They said her disappearance was hitting hard on the family, especially on her children who often asked about their mother.

“What if she has been held hostage or has been hurt. It’s painful when your child is missing.

“There are so many things that we see happening especially to women and girls. We always hear horrifying stories of human trafficking, drug trafficking, violent crimes against women. All those things are keeping us up at night.”

“I’ve been to Bheki Mlangani Hospital to check their records from the beginning of July until now but nothing came up. We don’t sleep, in the early hours of the morning we are up wondering where she is. We will be going to Leratong Hospital because we are approaching a full month since she disappeared.”

They appealed with the public to assist in their search for the safe return of Katlego. The Mathope family can be contacted on 083 655 7881 or 073 343 3694.
