Sadag aims to support LGBTQI community society

SADAG to launch a new support group for queer identifying individuals on November 24.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has announced the launch of a new support group offering a safe and supportive space for young queer-identifying individuals.

“The group will start on November 24 and meet every last Friday of the month thereafter. SADAG support group leader Tarika will host free online meetings for young adults aged 18-35.

“These online meetings provide a safe and inclusive space for individuals within the LGBTQI+ community to connect, share experiences, and support one another. It creates a platform where young adults can find solidarity and understanding,” said SADAG’s Jane Mashava.

Tarika shared not having people you can relate to about sexuality and/or gender identity is an isolating experience.

“I have first-hand experience with that, so I wanted to help create a space where queer people can connect.

“I hope the support group will help foster a sense of community and camaraderie among the members.”

SADAG’s projects manager Krystle Kemp said, “We believe in the power of community and the strength that comes from sharing our stories. Support groups are a space for individuals to gather, uplift each other, and build lasting connections.”
