You can be a mom and still pursue your dreams. Motherhood is not a distraction from your dreams. It is a calling that fuels your dreams.

“I would encourage every young woman, mothers and wives to take up a hobby that will empower them. A lot of times once you are married or become a mother, you tend to put yourself second and forget who you have always wanted to be,” Wax explained.

Becoming Mrs Eldorado Park 2023 made Wax realise that hiding her light because of fear and assuming that being a beauty queen will no longer be added to her attributes was not true.

“I realised this was my time and for as long as I can remember I hid in the shadows. I would dim my light, telling myself I was not ready and at that time I was sabotaging my dreams because of fear,” she said.

According to Wax, a lot of women are running on empty and hoping or believing they still have the ability to fill other women’s cups. However, they end up experiencing burnouts and unintentionally wounding those who look up to them.

“When you take time to look after yourself and allow yourself to understand that you cannot save everyone. You need to heal and take a break from life, because you cannot pour from an empty cup,” said Wax.

She continues with, “You don’t have to self-sacrifice; you need to actually preserve yourself so that you can give everyone the best version of you.”

Many women are instinctively wary of another woman who is better looking and happy to find fault in them. However, Wax explains the feeling of intimidation that women receive from each other as a result of lack of self-appreciation.

“As soon as we can realise that we are worthy and enough, then we will see every woman as our sister not as competitor and that is when we can celebrate each other,” she explains.

The queen concluded with these words to unite other young women and mothers, “It is important to be able to build one another as women, because society has already broken us down.”
