This comes after Mami Shabangu (67) reached out to the foundation to ask for donations to assist with her brother’s mobility after he suffered a stroke in March.

Mami said their lives were normal like any other family before her brother, Goodman Shabangu (70) fell from his bed when he was in his room amid suffering the stroke.

Goodman Shabangu (70) received a donation of a wheelchair from Kasi Hero Foundation.

When talking about the day the incident occurred, Mami said one of the children who live in their home ran to her shouting that Goodman had fallen from his bed. They then called for transport to seek for medical attention at Bheki Mlangeni Hospital and they were later transferred to Bara Hospital.

After being brought back from home for some time, the second incident occurred when Goodman fell onto of a hot plate stove which led him to having moderate burns.

“We went in and out of Bara Hospital but we could not really find any help because his condition was not getting better. The burn wounds were starting to get infected and that is when we took him to Mofolo Clinic where he was diagnosed with stroke,” Mami said.

The sister of Goodman Shabangu who received the wheelchair, Mami shed tears of gratitude to Kasi Hero Foundation for pledging donations of the wheelchair.

She added that since then, their lives have not been the same as they have to adjust to a new way of living and ensuring that Goodman lives a comfortable life as well.

“My brother is very close to my heart, he has been my rock ever since. His new conditions really made life difficult for all of us because in everything we do we should always consider his condition.

“Due to a lack of wheelchair, he was not able to go outside easily for fresh air and was always copped up at home.”

Mami expressed heartfelt gratitude to Kasi Hero Foundation for pledging the donation and said it will help change their lives for the better as she danced to celebrate her brother’s new wheels.

The wheelchair was donated by the Fordburg Muslim Youth Foundation.

“Not even words can describe how grateful we are as a family. Now everything can go back close to normal, as it was. We will be able to attend church and his clinic check-ups without having to pay for an Uber.

“I will just push him with his wheelchair and life will be easier. My Psalms prayers have been really answered.”

The Chairperson and co-founder of Kasi Hero Foundation, Ndivhuwo Liphadzi, said they are grateful to the business that sponsored them with the wheelchair.

“We received the wheelchair from the Fordburg Muslim Youth Foundation. It just warms our hearts that we are able to change lives of families in Soweto and surrounding areas because this is what the foundation is about; making a difference for those in need, with the help of local businesses,” Liphadzi said.
