The E30 Squad is a group of individuals with love for E30 BMWs. They are also known for showing up to communities in need through offering donations, support and making a difference in the lives of people.

Their relationship with Takalani Home started in 2021 when one of their crew members and Diepkloof community leader, Mpesi Hadebe reached out to the home in an effort to pledge donations on her birthday.

Since then, the E30 Squad has been working closely with the home by donating items annually.

For their latest donation, the crew also managed to raise funds of an undisclosed amount of money as well as repairing appliances at the home.

According to the project coordinator, Rorisang Mabalane, the charity drive was aimed at making a difference in the lives of the people at Takalani Home and to bring in more organisations on board to be part of this kind gesture.

“We also aimed at changing the perception of BMWs by some of the residents. Until today we still have people who look at these cars and think they are related to gangsterism, however we do have crew members who want to make a change with the little that they have,” Mabalane said.

Mabalane added that the donations made by the crew are with money taken from their own pockets and they hope that local businesses can see the good work and passion they have for giving back to the community and offer sponsorship.

The founder of the project, Maboye Buyi Motseko said, “We chose Takalani Home because of the challenges we know they face daily. The home struggles to get enough food for the people they cater for, with some being abandoned by their families and spend most of the lives at the home, this is where we come in, to ensure that they have a quality and healthy lifestyle.”

The drive was also joined by the Gush Queens, which a group of females who also own E30 BMWs. It was founded in early 2019 with an aim to bring back dignity to young girls who miss school because due to being unable to afford sanitary towels.

“We have been to six different homes so far and the situation here at Takalani Home was the worst of all the homes we visited. This is why we made our way back here to assist them again today.

“It makes us feel good knowing that we are helping out people who can’t help themselves and it gives us joy seeing the smiles on their faces, however we believe that more can be done by our government.”

The secretary of Takalami Home’s interim board, Siphiwe ‘Jobe’ Sithole, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the crew members for spending their day at the home and pledging donations.

“It warms my heart that we still have people who genuinely care about those around them and for this we are really grateful. We hope our relationship with the crew continues from here going forth,” Sithole said.
