Victims opens case of assault after National Shutdown at Dobsonville police station

The victim who led the charges alleges that they were stopped and pointed with firearms and assaulted by a group of unknown men.

The Police in Dobsonville are investigating a case of assault which allegedly happened last month during the National Shutdown.

According to a police report, the victim who led the charges alleges that they were stopped and pointed with firearms and assaulted by a group of unknown men.

SAPS Spokesperson, Constable Vusi Thokwan said, “It is alleged by the victim that on March 20 while walking with his friends, they were approached by a group of African males that pointed them with high calibre firearms and then assaulted them.”

Thokwan states that through investigation, it was discovered that the victim was suspected to have been looting around the Dobsonville area.

“Investigations continue and the police will make sure that justice is served. No one has the right to point another person with a firearm or to assault them, no matter your popularity,” he cautioned.

Dobsonville acting station commander Colonel Lengau has condemned this behaviour and encourages anyone who may assist the investigation to come forward to enable the police to execute an arrest.
