“The Gauteng premier has announced that service delivery should be provided to townships and informal settlements since they are neglected areas. The Service Delivery Blitz helps us ensure that we provide proper services to the communities,” said Tokisi Manamela, stakeholder relations assistant director at Social Development.

According to the acting director of the stakeholder relations, Khosi Radebe, the MEC of Social Development had an engagement with Izinduna in November last year. Izinduna indicated to the MEC that they need essential services brought closer to the hostels, adding that all government departments should come and render their services so that they can be able to access service delivery freely and accordingly.

“Hostel residents were positively assisted today. The Department of Social Development brought all the necessary government services that we need.

“At this moment we have people who are unemployed but because the services are brought to them, people can now be able to apply for social grants and get help from the Department of Labour,” said Sahluko Dladla the Secretary of Izinduna Organisation.

The Department of Social Development said it will continue working with various government services to ensure that people from different townships and informal settlement are provided with proper service delivery.
