Madonsela, who was born in Swaziland and relocated to South Africa in 2005 said music was always a large part of her life. It was when the late Apostle Benny Mzongwana started a senior praise and worship team that she joined and would later lead.

“I was actively involved in my church as a worshipper back home and when I joined a church this side where I was actively involved, my Bishop said I should consider recording my songs because I would surprise members of the team and the congregation by composing a song on stage,” recalled the mother of four in a chuckle.

Madonsela explains she wrote and composed all of her songs through reading the Word of God, listening to her Bishop’s teachings and observing life in general.

“Most times after the teachings by my bishop, I would compose a song, sometimes I would just wake up, pray and have a song in my heart and use my diary to write lyrics and record the tune on my phone.”

The debut album will feature six songs, plus a bonus track from the backing vocalists.

“The album has been in the works for a little over two years. Everything the Holy Spirit revealed to me,” she said. “Life challenges made me realise that God carries us through in the wilderness. The strength would have made me realise that we serve a faithful God.”

Her Manager, Nelisiwe Sithole added that it was during a month-long teaching by Bishop Mzongwana that Madonsela got the inspiration to compose the song Ngathola’mandla ehlane.
