Local young people discuss relationships for the month of love

The purpose of the talk show was to create a space in which Christian young people can discuss matters around relationships they find themselves in.

In commemoration of the month of love, Palm Bible Church Youth Committee hosted a talk show about relationships and young people, last Friday evening.

The purpose of the talk show was to create a space in which Christian young people can discuss matters around relationships they find themselves in.

Pastor Mondli Nhlapo, Palm Bible Church youth Pastor said, “This month we are talking about victorious relationships as young people because the point of it all is that we should win those relationships. But if you can analyse relationships in the present age, we are losing.”

A relation is a continuing and often committed association between two or more people. Relationships are meant to build and encourage you into becoming the best version of yourself.

Two of the major issues that were discussed in which young people found themselves in were firstly the dangers around Christian male and female friendships.

It is no lie that most romantic relationship began as friendships. It is important to state your intentions at the beginning of any relation, because most young people start friendships with hidden agendas which often destroy the parties involved.

“Let’s be cognisant of the presence of the enemy, the devil knows who we are conversing with. I have ladies coming to me with pure intention but end up confessing to have feelings for me,” said Zweli Dlongolo, one of the panellists.

“You will not say no to all of them, at one moment you give in to considering a relationship with your supposed friend,” he added.

Another issue which young people are facing is the temptation of awaken love before its appointed time. It is important to understand that not everything is for you and boundaries are better than regrets.

One of the young people advised that, “I find it important to have boundaries in my personal space. I am aware of my weaknesses, so I cannot be in spaces which test my weaknesses hoping that God will save me.

“As young people we need to take accountability of the environment we put ourselves in.”

Pastor Mondli urged young people to, “Leave every relationship that does not add any value to their lives spiritually, mentally, physically and financially. Always aim to cultivate relationships that are adding value in all aspect of your life.”
