Man dies shortly after landing at OR Tambo

Michael Joseph Morris, collapsed in the international arrival’s bathrooms, shortly after arriving on British Airways flight BA 057 from London, Heathrow.

The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) CEO Mpumi Mpofu extended her condolences to the family and friends of a British passenger who died at OR Tambo International Airport.

Michael Joseph Morris collapsed in the international arrival bathrooms shortly after arriving on a British Airways flight from London, Heathrow.

He was travelling with his wife.

Mpofu said ACSA paramedics attended to Morris, but he was declared dead.

Members of the SAPS and ACSA’s security team attended to the scene.

She added that the cause of death is yet to be officially determined.

“ACSA is deeply saddened by Mr Morris’ death. Our thoughts are with his wife, family and loved ones at this difficult time,” said Mpofu.

“ACSA can confirm a British embassy official who was a passenger on the same flight assisted with contacting the embassy to advise them of the incident.

“We were informed that Mr Morris’ family was scheduled to travel back to the UK on February 10.”
