Attempted murder suspect arrested in Eldos

A suspect who has been wanted for charges of attempted murder was finally arrested on Tuesday January 31.

The arrest was made in Sand Street, Old Eldorado Park after the police were tipped about the whereabouts of the suspect who had been on the run after a case was opened against him at the Modeor Police Station in November last year.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Roxanne Gibb said the suspect attempted to escape but the swift reaction by the police officers resulted in the apprehension.

“The suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with the serial number filed of and ten live ammunition,” explained Sergeant Gibb . “He was thereafter placed under arrest for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and will also be charged with the outstanding cases of attempted murder and armed robbery.”

He is expected to appear before the respective court during the course of the week, and the firearm will be tested for possible linkage to other crimes that may have been committed.
