The good thing though according to Mrs Plesis is that learners have never been afraid of asking for help when they need it.

This comes as the class of 2022 obtained a 100% pass rate in their matric results. Broken down, this is made up of eight Bachelor passes, 12 Academic passes and one Certificate with a number of distinctions counted as well.

A total of 22 learners sat for their final exams and they all passed. This is a slight drop from the class of 2021 where 27 learners sat for the final exams and only one failed.

Former principal, Mrs Sally Plesis attributes the success of the class of 2022 to hard work and good collaboration between the teachers, learners and the parents saying it helped them through a lot of challenges.

“This is a group of learners that was affected the most by COVID.

“Many times you find that even though we did most of our teaching and learning through eLearning, learners still needed to be present for us to explain things to them and fill some gaps,” explained Mrs Plesis.

She went on to say that another challenge this group of learners faced was mental health due to the pandemic and all that came with it.

The good thing though according to Mrs Plesis is that learners have never been afraid of asking for help when they need it.

Thanks to interventions such as counselling, motivational speakers and extra classes including weekends, the New Gen Academy class of 2022 has made Eldos proud.

Producing such good results does not happen overnight but it takes time and nurturing from as early as Grade 8, something the school has managed to do very well.

With programmes that focus on maths and other critical subjects such as coding, learners are groomed for success long before they sit for their final matric examination.

It is such interventions and collaboration with parents that makes the school a safe haven for the learners, an environment that inspires success and hard work.

That is according to the principal Mr Marlon Louw who stressed the importance of parent involvement in the education of their children.

“We are a school that is based on Christian beliefs and principles, so God always comes first,” said Mr Louw.

“We thank God for the good results, not only for our school but for all the schools in Eldorado Park and surrounding areas.

“We also thank the teaching and support staff; those are the people who are at the forefront of everything.”

The principal also thanked the parents for their support and prayers.

While the class of 2023 might feel under pressure to maintain the standard set by the class of 2022, Mr Louw said they must remember that nothing is impossible as long as they are disciplined and dedicated to their work.
