Highlights of 16 Days of Activism campaign

Locals joined the rest of the country to call for an end to violence against women and children through various campaigns.

This year’s 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign focused on the socio- economic rights of women as a means to prevent GBV and femicide.

Locals joined the rest of the country to call for an end to violence against women and children through various campaigns.

The theme for this year’s campaign was, “Socio-Economic Rights and Empowerment to build Women’s Resilience against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide: Connect, Collaborate, Contract.”

Even though the initiative wrapped up this past weekend, South Africans are encouraged to make it a year-long campaign to make sure that all communities get rid of GBV and Femicide once and for all.

Children from various schools in Eldorado Park joined in on the campaign by taking to the streets to send a strong message against all forms of violence and abuse. Here are some of the highlights of the campaign in pictures by Mzwandile Khathi.
