Famous Thembisa DJ shot and killed in Sedibeng

DJ Lesh was laid to rest on October 30.

Family and friends are in mourning following the death of DJ Lesh SA, also known as Thulani Nyambi.

The DJ was shot and killed on October 22 in Sedibeng Section.
The motive for the shooting is known.

The Thembisan attempted to contact Thembisa SAPS for comment but was unsuccessful and was instead directed to the provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo.

However, no response had been received at the time of going to press.

Many community members and friends were shocked by the popular DJ’s death.

Those who attended his memorial ceremony on October 27 remembered him for his contributions to the area and people’s lives.

According to Lesh SA’s cousin, Zanele Mabuza, several of his fans, family and friends shared images of the artist and remembered his legacy on social media.

“Everyone who knew Lesh was shocked. His death definitely hit home since losing someone you love is one of the hardest things you can ever go through.

“Everyone who spoke at the memorial service and his funeral on October 29 characterised Lesh as a loving, kind person who was family-oriented and loved his neighbourhood since he used to give back to the community.

“Being a musician by trade, he delighted in using his love of music to entertain people.

“He began his musical career in the streets of Thembisa where he was born.”

“At the age of 16, he uncovered his talent and became a DJ and producer.

“All that is left of him is music, images and core memories.

“He will be sorely missed. He was so young, so energetic and so certain of what he wanted from life and suddenly his life was abruptly over. His music and memories will last forever.

“He was a DJ unlike any other,” said Mabuza.
