Exciting partnership of Mrs Soweto Empowerment Programme announced

Mrs Soweto platform is for women from the ages of 25 to 35 (married, divorced and engaged). The pageant is to acknowledge and remember the rich heritage of the biggest township in the Southern hemisphere.

The Filling Cups Charity event in aid of Dignity Dreams was recently held at the Jenna Clifford Studio in Morningside, Sandton.

Two prominent women from the south, Tandi Potgieter and Dr Tshegofatso Mathe co-hosted the event with Jenna Clifford.

Guests were visibly moved by guest speakers Adele Koolen and Dr Tshegofatso Mathe, who spoke about filling their cups.

Dr Mathe then surprised the guests with an incredible announcement. The launch of the official Mrs Soweto Empowerment Programme and an exciting collaboration with Clifford, whose original design will be used for the Mrs Soweto crown.

Signa Trust’s Tulani Hlabangana announced that they will be sponsoring a three-year university scholarship that would include accommodation, a stipend and a computer for a deserving recipient of Mrs Soweto’s choosing.

“We are committed to changing one person’s life at a time,” said Mathe.

The winner will receive a Renault Kiger for the duration of her reign from Group 1 Renault The Glen.

Mathe, CEO of Mrs Soweto, exclaimed: “We are so overwhelmed by the incredible support for the Mrs Soweto Empowerment Programme and the shared vision of making a difference in the lives of the entrants and the community.”

With cocktails made with Ammil Gin and welcome drinks from Sip & Savor, guests had a wonderful afternoon at the Jenna Clifford Studio.

Ally’s Chilli Lane served up mouthwatering meat platters.

A Jenna Clifford black rose mug, a voucher for Lamelle skin care’s renewal, one for Jo Malone London’s Hyde Park, and one for iFearless Bodyguard on Demand, were among the goodies distributed to the guests.

Winners of the random drawing received hampers from Sip & Savor, Clifford spoons and a D’oro Eau de parfum by Dimanzi Perfumes.

Dignity Dreams was the beneficiary of the event. Dignity Dreams manufacture and distribute washable sanitary pads to help keep a girl in school. The pads last up to 48 months so donations will impact a girl’s life for four years.

About Mrs Soweto and how to enter

Mrs Soweto is a female empowerment movement with a focus on making an impactful difference in the community. A platform aimed at women from the ages of 25 to 35 (married, divorced and engaged).

Through this platform, women will go through a journey of self-discovery in an environment where each woman fills which, that is to say, empowered, supported, important and relevant.

It is an eight-month journey from November 1 to October 28, 2023, where contestants will attend empowering workshops and take part in community activation.

To enter, there will be an online entry as well as entry forms at various points in Soweto. Forms will be made available in the Soweto tourism offices and Maponya Mall.

They will also be points where people can access those entry forms or entries will be sent through a WhatsApp number and the details sent will be captured.
