According to the founder, Sharlene Abels the aim was just for the children in the area to have some fun in the sun.

The organisation catered for about 400 people, of which the majority were children.

“I realised that there are too many kids roaming the streets on the weekend and with all the shootings happening around Eldos, myself and my team thought of a way to keep them busy but at the same time have fun.

“Remember the unemployment rate in our community is extremely high so most kids don’t have the opportunity to go out on weekends and this leaves them to roam the streets,” said Abels.

The Jayden Naidoo Legacy Foundation, BHMI Ministries and BSK Tigers karate academy were also a part of the event.

The fun day had jumping castles, face painting, dancing competitions, prize giveaways, and a game called ‘pop the balloon’.

The organisations also offered food, juice, cakes, ice cream, popcorn and party packs which each kid received.

Abels would like to thank DJ Nathaniel Tenkay Noah who offered his services for free, and a special thanks to the founder of the Jayden Naidoo Legacy Foundation; Lisa Niemack and the owner of BSK Tigers; Vernon Booysen.

“To everyone out there who contributed financially or by donating; clothes, treats and the juices, please accept my heartfelt gratitude.

“I could have never done this without you guys as well as my amazing team and volunteers, thank you. I really appreciate you all. We give God all the honour and Glory for an amazing fun day,” concluded Abels.
