Fresh adoption talks with Angie
An adoptee from Eldorado Park shares her journey through social media and in her up-and-coming book all about being adopted.
Angie Griffen (45) who was born and bred in Eldorado Park is ready to tell the world about her journey as an adoptee.

She is currently sharing her story through her YouTube channel but she is also writing a book about being adopted.
The idea to create a YouTube channel came from her daughter Ciara, who is also very involved behind the scenes and with the content of the channel.
“I wanted to create a platform where I could share and have others share with me their stories and we chose YouTube as our first platform.
“I am truly grateful that God is using me and this platform to share my story,” said Griffen.
The four-month-old channel gets updated with weekly videos. The videos mainly focus on Griffen’s stories about her family, daily affirmations and quotes. A feature of interviews with people who wants to share their stories has also been added to the channel.
Griffen explained that she allows people to send through audio or videos of themselves sharing their adoptee stories.

She added that she does not want to be the one to tell people’s stories instead she wants them to own their stories as it’s not her stories to tell.
“For as long as I can remember, I knew I always wanted to write a book about being adopted, but there was a lot within my journey of learning and finding the answers to the questions I had about my adoption.
“I felt that I first needed to find all the pieces to the puzzle and put in place before I could share my story.
“I started writing my book in 2021 and it was during that process where the idea for sharing my story on social media was born. I felt that publishing my books was not going to be enough,” she said.
The release date for her book has not been announced. yGriffen concluded the interview by sharing that her family including her biological family has been nothing short of amazing as they have been very supportive of her sharing her journey.
