The Elinye Ithuba, Second Chance programme founded by Moyo in 2021 aims to make a difference to the youth of South Africa by empowering them with the ability to pursue their dreams and eradicate unemployment.

“Youth unemployment is getting out of hand. South Africa is one of the countries that have a high number of persons not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) which tells us that people spend time not doing anything productive.

“We want to have some sort of an intervention that will empower and give them something that they can do and get a skill out of so they can be given another chance to be find employment or go back to school,” he said explaining the reason why the seminar came about.

Moyo said the current unemployment statistics in the country paints a gloomy picture but hoped that Elinye Ithuba will be the platform that gives hope, the tools and solutions to job seekers.

“Overall, it is not only young people who bear the brunt of excessive unemployment.

“Many people who are over the age of 35 are left out of employment opportunities such as skills training, bursaries and apprenticeships.

“Therefore, an all-encompassing skills drive is needed to upskill the so-called “youth endala” while also training the youth for their first formal employment,” he explained.

The NPO facilitates opportunities for the participants to enrol in skills programmes where learners acquire knowledge and skills in a single or a cluster of unit standards to build credits towards a full qualification registered on the NQF.

“Our programme has two pillars, the first being the seminar which we hope will be the first of many.

“We then also have what we call the Second Chance Programme, where we are trying to match people with short practical skills development programs that can be converted to some kind of employment or source of income.”

The Seminar which will be hosted by Moyo will feature a grand line-up of speakers from different sectors, including the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA), Business development and Finance institutions to talk about securing funding for small business, the Education Sector as well as entrepreneurs who will share practical stories of how they grew their businesses.

Individuals interested in attending the seminar can register by sending an email to Zodwa@elinyeithuba.co.za or SMS your name and surname to 078 681 7373. Entrance is Free.
