Diepkloof police concerned with increasing house robberies

The latest community alert follows a spike of house robberies in recent weeks which have been reported in the area.

The local SAPS in Diepkloof has raised concerns pertaining to on-going criminality that is on the rise in the area.

The latest community alert follows a spike of house robberies in recent weeks which have been reported in the area.

“The police station has opened several cases of house robberies where armed suspects entered inside the house mostly in early hours of the morning and rob families of clothing, television sets, money just to mention a few,”Communications Officer, Captain Phephi Matlou told Urban News.

According to the Captain, in one of the robberies reported in Zone 1, the victims were tied with shoe strings and made to watch while the criminals made way with their personal belongings.

She further stated that many of the reported cases were mostly from the Diepkloof Extension and Zone two areas, and further stated that investigations were underway to establish if the robberies were linked.

“While the incidents were in those mentioned areas only, we want to sensitise the whole community of Diepkloof to be on alert.

“We are urging our community to make sure that they lock the doors and gates at all times and at night should not open gates or doors for strangers,” she concluded.

Matlou added that the police were working around the clock to ensure those who are responsible are brought to book.

She urged anyone who has information leading to the arrest of these house robbers to inform the police or use the crime stop number to report any illegal crime activities anonymously on 0119337400 and/or 0860010111.
