Local foundation turns five years of making a difference in Soweto

The organisation hosted a charity drive where they gave back to the community of Pimville.

The Nhlanhla Tshabalala Foundation celebrated its fifth anniversary on August 9 at the Pimville Park in Zone 5.

To celebrate this milestone which coincided with Women’s Day, the organisation hosted a charity drive where they gave back to the community of Pimville.

The event was attended by over 250 children from the community who had a host of fun activities lined up for them on the day.

These activities included horse riding, face painting, jumping castles and a fun walk to commemorate the 1956 women’s march to the Union Buildings.

Children also participated in indigenous games and a mini soccer tournament on the day. The Nhlanhla Tshabalala Foundation had collaborated with Enos Mafokate of the Soweto Equestrian Centre to put smiles on children’s faces.

Nhlanhla Tshabalala thanked Blackdot Property Consultants, ntate Mafokate and the Soweto Equestrian Centre for partnering with them in making the event a success.

“This is a milestone for us and for our beneficiaries across the nation who have been benefitting from the organisation through different initiatives aimed at empowering children, the youth and communities at large, this being achieved with the help of our valuable donors and stakeholders,” said the organisation’s Nhlanhla Tshabalala.

Apart from entertaining children on the day, the foundation also donated food parcels to five families from the community through donations they received on the day.

The foundation also received support from Kasi Hero Foundation and some school principals from the community.

Tshabalala said, “It is true that the work we do cannot be achieved alone.

“We need continuous support and backing from the community, businesses and affluent leaders to ensure growth and sustainability for the greater community.”

He thanked Blackdot Property Consultants, ntate Mafokate and the Soweto Equestrian Centre for partnering with them in making the event a success.
