According to Finley Watson from the F.W Academy in Eldorado Park, the tournament was attended by ten hockey teams from across the province and was in partnership with Supersport behind it as well as Spar as the sponsor.

F.W Academy, Eldos Warriors and Titans are all teams from Eldorado Park who participated in the tournament.

When it came to the finals, Eldos Warriors and Titans combined their players and ended up winning the tournament, bringing home the trophy. F.W Academy came in fourth place.

“F.W Academy, Eldos Warriors and Titans are collaborating in Eldos to start a league for hockey.

“We would like to start with a fixture consisting of Roodepoort, Westbury, Noordgesig, Eldos, and surrounding areas.

“We are trying to change the desires of our kids because sports has always been here but we lost the desire,” said Watson.

Coaches Angela Tumelo, Eloise Brighton and Watson behind the three hockey clubs are all collaborating with In-Touch to start leagues for crèches too because they believe that it is better to start developing players at that young age.

“We are busy seeking for more teams to kick off a league. We have six teams thus far that are from around our region but looking for teams that are close so that we can eliminate the transportation issues but we are willing to travel if it’s needed,” added Watson.

The more teams there are, the more tournaments they can have in Eldorado Park. If you would like to join the teams or be a part of the league, you can contact Finley Watson on 065 250 4718.
