It is alleged that at 22:45 at a pick up point for e-commerce giant, Take-A-Lot, three men entered the premises and tried to rob the place when they started firing bullets at security officers on site.

“The shootout between the suspects and security guards led to one of the robbers being fatally shot and a security guard at the premises was shot on the abdomen and he was taken to hospital,” Capt. Phephi Matlou, Communications Officer at Diepkloof SAPS explained.

According to the Captain, one of the suspects was falsely disguised in the company’s logo in what may have been a move to mislead security personnel, adding that this was a common modus operandi of criminals.

“The one suspect who was fatally shot was wearing a Take-A-Lot reflector and on his waist he had a wheel spanner and a holster.

“Next to him was a 9mm firearm that he was using to shoot at the security guards. The other suspects ran away and they are still at large,” she continued.
