ICT centre launched in Senaoane

The EcoLabs, an organisation that looks to improve the quality of education through infrastructure development has partnered with thdeputy minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Buti Manamela.

The deputy minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Buti Manamela, together with the EcoLabs launched a 20-seat ICT centre at the Chiawelo Community Learning Centre in Senaoane last Thursday, July 19.

The EcoLabs, an organisation that looks to improve the quality of education through infrastructure development has partnered with the Office of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation to extend its ICT programme to Community Education Colleges.

The launch of this ICT lab aims to promote and improve the use of technology and innovation in the CET sector, which will also improve and uplift the lives of poor and disadvantaged communities.

The lab consists of 21 desktops, computer lab infrastructure (where applicable), printer, whiteboard projector and network configuration /installation.

This is in a bid to contribute to ICT development in the post-school education and training (PSET) system.

Addressing the congregants, Deputy Minister said, “The strategic context for today’s launch is articulated in our white paper for post school education and training of 2013.

“Our focus is to enhance self-employment and entrepreneurship with relevant skills programmes to reduce the high unemployment rate in Gauteng,” he added.

The founder of Eco labs, Nhlanhla Mposula extended his gratitude to his parents and his family members for the consistent support and said he hopes the project will spread to other provinces.
