Seven suspects arrested in connection with recent shootings in Eldos

Two days later, at approximately 8:00pm members of the Eldorado Park SAPS Tracing Team, supplemented by the Soweto Tactical Response Team attended to another shooting complaint.

They further proceeded to follow up on information received regarding the whereabouts of the suspects responsible for recent shooting incidents plaguing the community of the Greater Eldorado Park.

“The SAPS members proceeded to the provided address along Slagberg Street in Eldorado Park and upon arrival conducted a search of the persons and premises,” said Sergeant Roxanne Gibb, Eldorado Park police spokesperson.

As a result of the search conducted, five males between the ages of 19 and 24 were found to be hiding at the premises, and one of the five suspects was found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm and 16 illegal live ammunition.

An additional two suspects were later (on the same evening) arrested for separate cases of murder. A thorough investigation will be conducted, in order to link the suspects to the outstanding murder cases.

“All evidence obtained was seized and will be used for further investigation purposes. The alleged suspects will appear before the respective courts during the course of the week,” added Gibb.

The Eldorado Park SAPS Station Commander, Brigadier Maluleke praised the display of swift response and dedication by the SAPS members.

He further expressed his gratitude to the residents, patrollers and the Community Policing Forum for all their commitment as these successes could not have been possible without the integrated efforts of all parties involved.

The Station Commander concluded that his vision of ensuring a gun free community is not impossible and that with the guaranteed support of the community, will come to fruition.
