Jabulani man arrested for unlicensed firearm

He was arrested by Dobsonville police in Jabulani after they received a tip-off from residents.

A 26 year old is due to appear at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

He was arrested by Dobsonville police in Jabulani on June 30 after they received a tip off from residents.

Dobsonville police spokesperson, Constable Vusi Thokwan said they received intelligence information about a silver VW Polo which had been terrorising residents in Dobsonville and surrounding areas.

“The intelligent information directed the police to the Jabulani precinct where the concerned vehicle was pulled over with three occupants.

One occupant emerged from the front passenger side carrying a bag and ran away,” explained Constable Thokwan.

“The police engaged in a chase and when they finally caught him, they found the suspect in possession of one firearm with the serial number filed off and two magazines with six rounds each.”

The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at the Jabulani Police Station for possession of an unlicensed firearm and Ammunition.

Investigations are underway to link the suspect to other crimes he might have committed. The district commander Major General Max Masha applauded the team for a swift movement to execute the arrest.
