Alleged mastermind behind e-hailing hijackings arrested in Eldorado Park

During an interview with the victim, the police were told that the victim was requested to do a pick up along Brandvlei Street, Extension 4 in Eldorado Park at around 5.10am.

On July 9, at approximately 6.10am, members of Eldorado Park SAPS attended to a complaint of a hijacked e-hailing vehicle that had been requested.

During an interview with the victim, the police were told that the victim was requested to do a pick up along Brandvlei Street, Extension 4 in Eldorado Park at around 5.10am.

According to Sergeant Roxanne Gibb, the victim further alleged that he was thereafter hijacked by the suspect who was in possession of a firearm. He was was robbed of his belongings as well as his company vehicle, a white Nissan Almera.

“The police were called and with the assistance of the community patrollers, a 37-year-old male was positively identified by the victim as one of the suspects who had committed the crime,” said Gibb.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Eldorado Park SAPS. He is due to appear before the respective court during the course of the week.

It was further discovered by crime intelligence investigations that the 37-year-old suspect is allegedly the master-mind behind the hijackings and robberies of the e-hailing vehicles occurring within the Greater Eldorado Park policing precinct.

“Further investigations with regards to the aliases and addresses of the syndicate are underway,” added Gibb.
