The partnerships promises to showcase the countries top hockey players in the SASHOC U13, U16 and U18 teams.

It has been said that since hockey joined the United Schools Sports Association of South Africa (USSASA) in 1994, the national championships have been the target of the country’s top SA school’s hockey teams and players.

While the national tournaments were cancelled for the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, junior players from around the country will make a top-flight comeback when they converge on Stellenbosch for the various age group competitions.

Following the return of district and provincial leagues earlier this season, the SASHOC U13, U16 and U18 Nationals, hosted by Boland Schools Hockey, will be the pinnacle of the 2022 campaign for many of SA’s rising age group stars.

A total of 128 teams competed in the U18 tournament which was played at various venues over six days of competition between June 26 and July 1.

The SASHOC U13 Nationals will also return with matches being played between July 3 and July 6.

This will be followed by the SASHOC U16 Nationals for girls and boys, to be held between July 8 and 13.

“Despite the challenges faced by our nation and its youth over a challenging period for all of us, we are pleased to be able to continue arranging prestigious events like these, giving our age group players opportunities to be selected for the SA national hockey teams and high-performance squads,” said SASHOC chairperson Wendell Domingo.

“The added attention that these events will receive on SuperSport Schools is greatly appreciated, contributing to the rising exposure and continued growth of the sport,” he added.

The SASHOC U-13, U-16 and U-18 Nationals will be broadcast live on the SuperSport Schools channel.
