The campaign is called It Starts with One and it was launched in Soweto last week with the unveiling of three wall murals celebrating local heroes and heroines who have contributed positively to their communities.

These murals are on the busy street intersections in Protea Glen, Meadowlands and Dobsonville.

Katlego Thwane, Hector Nzomi and Goitsemang Modise are some of the young people from Soweto who are celebrated through this campaign which is set to launch in other townships across the country as well.

Thwane, a teacher from Dobsonville is a strong believer in access to education for every child regardless of their background.

Her passion for teaching fuelled her to start Atlehang Bana Foundation which runs lessons, book drives and a read-a-thon in the community of Dobsi.

Modise from Meadowlands use netball to empower and guide young girls in her community.

She is not only a coach but she also organise women empowerment workshops in the community where young people are educated about drugs and GBV.

Nzomi is another person who has made a positive impact in his community by teaching children to become majorettes.

This has become a safe haven for kids in the community as it keeps them busy and off the streets.

Thwane, Nzomi and Modise are all being celebrated with murals in their communities by Nestle BARONE.

Not only are these wall murals a reminder of the change young people can bring when they start something, they also come with free Wi-Fi for everyone in the community to use.

“The NESTLÉ BARONE It Starts With One campaign is about recognising local One Starters who have started something positive and impactful in their communities.

“They demonstrate a belief in finding ways to shine for themselves and others.

“They are not famous. They are not wealthy.

“But they are courageous, bold and optimistic,” said Janet Birk, Marketing Manager, NESTLÉ BARONE, Nestlé South Africa.

“By highlighting the work of these young people through colourful wall murals, it is hoped that more will get inspired and encouraged to do good for their communities.
