The organisation was founded by Genevieve Ally and had its launch on April 30.

Working with 30 boys between the ages of 10 and 20 years old, Ally aims to make a difference in their lives.

The idea of starting the organisation came from when one of her sons witnessed a boy being bullied because he had bad body odour.

Her son told her what had happened and then she made a hygiene pack for the boy just to find out that the boy didn’t even have a toothbrush.

Ally then thought of how many there must be in the community like this boy who was bullied.

“When I was still thinking of starting the foundation, I realised that chances of a boy child or young man dropping out of school, start doing drugs, starting a life of crime, drinking, smoking, ending up in jail or even worse ending up in a grave are so much higher than of a girl child.

“Yet more focus is put on the girl child or teenage girls, so that pushed me even more to start Build Our Boyz Charity Foundation,” explained Ally.

The foundation focuses on building self-confidence in boys and looks at teaching them to work hard to uplift the community by handing out food to those in need.

Ally also shared that she wants the boys to know that they are each other’s keepers and to know what is right from wrong.

Majority of the boys who are part of the foundation are athletes and many belong to soccer teams in the community. Sports play a huge role in the boys’ lives at the organisation.

Build Our Boyz Charity Foundation creates hygiene packs for the boys on a monthly basis and are in need of donations in order to create these packs for the boys in the community.
