Young female aspiring DJs battled it out in front of an audience and judges for a chance to be crowned Queen of the beat.
The search for Jozi’s best female DJ drew huge crowds of spectators at Maponya Mall this past weekend.

Young female aspiring DJs battled it out in front of an audience and judges for a chance to be crowned Queen of the beat. The contest is an initiative of the City of Johannesburg and is aimed at uncovering local talent when it comes to the male dominated DJ field.
Not only will the initiative give female DJs exposure, but it will also provide them with an opportunity to learn from industry greats through workshops to be conducted by acclaimed female DJs.

Queen of the beat auditions are at an advanced stage and the finalists will be selected on Youth Day at Vilakazi Street. They will then go head to head at the finals to be held at the James Hall Museum of Transport later this month.
