Honouring top achievers

Emshukantambo Secondary School held an award ceremony to recognise and honour learners who have done well in the first term of this academic year.

The short ceremony was held on Thursday morning during assembly time with trophies and certificates handed out to the top achievers.

The focus was on Grade 12s last week and this week, another ceremony will be hosted for the junior classes.

“We are recognising the top achievers in each learning area, from Grade 8 to 12 and the top 3 learners in each grade for term one so as to encourage learners to do better in the three remaining terms. Our wish is to celebrate the top achievers in each term. We had to start with Grade 12 learners as seniors of the school to encourage them to do better and inspire those who come after them,” said the school’s Projects Co-ordinator, Pule Hlahane.

The whole schools cheered for those who got top marks in different subjects and as they were handed their certificates and trophies. The overall top achiever was Grade 12’s Samukeliso Simelani who exceled in English and History. She went on to take position one in the top three with 542 points.

Trailing behind her was Tshabile Moloi with 540 points followed by Reuben Manjate on position three with 523 points.

This celebration was a special one in a way that it coincided with the school’s 25th anniversary celebration. Hlahane thanked everyone who made the celebration possible and encouraged learners to keep working hard as work conquers all.
