Ward 26 ANC commits to supporting Bopasenatla

ANC leaders in Ward 26 are on a spree to contribute and make an impact to the local schools education system.

ANC leaders in Ward 26 are on a spree to contribute and make an impact to the local school’s education system. On Friday, February 25, they visited Bopasenatla Secondary School in Zone 2 to congratulate the teachers for the quality of results for matric 2021 but to also motivate learners to do better for the 2022 academic year.

Joined by the Ward 26 councillor, Sthembiso Mashinini, they first had a meeting with the school’s principal, Robert Radzuma, who briefed them about the current state of the school. Radzuma said they’re currently on the right track however; his only concern was with a few individual learners who lacked discipline and are always involved in fights.

He then requested that the leadership intervene and assist where possible. They made a commitment to support the school. They also went to all the Grade 12 classes to motivate learners and touched on the topic of discipline.

“There’s no time to relax when you are in Grade 12, you need to start working from the beginning of the year, otherwise it will be too late for you. Also, remember that Grade 12 is not about a matric jacket or wearing a different uniform from the rest of the school, you’re going to need to work hard to earn that badge,” Vero Malema said to the learners.

“Please make us proud, you’re the face of the school and we are expecting you to lead by example, discipline will take you a long way in life,” she added.

Mashinini also made a commitment that he is going to award top learners in the ward with brand new laptops. This also serves as motivation for the learners to aim higher. Last year, the school achieved 81,1% which is a decline from the previous year’s 85,5%, however, Radzuma said that they’re aiming higher and the support from ANC will serve as a catalyst in achieving better results.
