Jonathan goes full beast mode in 2022
Dancer Bxxst from Eldorado Park shares the life as a dancer and his love for dance education.
Johnathan Retief (26) better known as Bxxst from Eldorado Park is a dancer and dance teacher who looks at using art as a form to make a difference in the community.

Retief has been a dancer for the last 19 years; he went from dancing in a crew to becoming a solo dancer. In 2017, Retief was ranked eleventh in the world when it came to dance championships.
He now looks at becoming number one in the world as he still goes for his trials. No Limits Academy International is the dance academy that Retief started after he offered dance as an extra-mural activity at Cavendish Primary School back in 2013.
The dancer shared that he saw the demand for dance in the community and that is why he started his academy. Retief focuses on Lyrical Hip Hop Dance and described it as Contemporary Dance mixed with Hip Hop. When it comes to his style of teaching, Retief shared that you will not see a lot of dancing at first in his classes.
“I focus on teaching muscle groups because a dancer uses a large number of their muscles to dance. It comes back to understanding your body and yourself. Knowledge of self is a pillar. I have been passionate about dance education for many years,” he shared.
The dancer was also recently featured on a YouTube series called Trust the Process where he shared his journey of dance with the world.
“Kids are such sponges; I’ve seen it in our community and I believe that we still have a chance to save our generation. I have so much faith in Eldorado Park, that is why I am going to build my university here. There is nothing I will take away from this community. I try my best to be a good example,” Retief added.
Through his dance academy, Retief tries to get his learners jobs so that they can make an income for themselves as well as their families. The dancer now looks at furthering his studies in Business Management, he is also registered to do an Early Childhood Development course and he will be relaunching his dance school as an art school this year.
