Operation O Kae Molao is aimed at stamping the authority of the state and assisting Eldorado Park SAPS as well as Kliptown SAPS in reducing the crime in the area.

Lieutenant General Mawela expressed that he was very happy with what they have achieved in the operation today: “We have arrested 27 undocumented persons, we found two positively identified stolen vehicles, seven stolen engines at a chop shop and those people have been arrested. One illegal shebeen has been closed, the owner was arrested and the alcohol was confiscated. Two people were arrested for possession of drugs. We’ve also found dagga, some dangerous weapons, and so forth. I believe that we have assisted the authority of the state. Those who think that they can wage lawlessness in this area must think again”.

When asked about yesterday’s crime scene in Devland where five unidentified men were found shot dead, the General explained that that is a separate investigation and that there is another team investigating that case.

Mawela added that they have spoken to a lot of residents in the community and that communication will assist law enforcement officials in future operations.

In his short address to the media, he also added that the District Commissioner Major General Max Masha will continue with operations such as today in the area.
