Two killed, twenty-one injured in taxi rollover in Diepkloof

Last night, a man and woman were killed and twenty-one others injured when the taxi they were travelling in rolled on the N1 near the Old Potch bridge in Diepkloof.

ER24 and other services arrived shortly after 20h00 to find the wrecked taxi upright in the centre median. Several passengers had been ejected and were lying around the vehicle. Several others were seen lying trapped inside the taxi.

Medics quickly assessed the patients and found that a man and woman, both lying trapped inside the taxi, had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.

Twenty-one other patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical. Medics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions before being transported to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
