Stroke FC coach prepares the boys for the Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge

Eldorado Parks most popular football club is ready to claim the Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge title.

The Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge which is held annually at the Nike Stadium in Soweto was cancelled last year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

There has not been any official announcements to this year’s tournament as yet but head coach Nathan Davies of Strokes Football Club (FC) is preparing for it.

Davies mentioned that if they are in the tournament this year, it would be their tenth edition in the tournament.

According to Davies, the last time they played in the tournament was in 2019 where they made it into the quarter-finals and lost in the penalty shoot-out.

“I’m actually looking forward to this year’s edition of the tournament because if we are in the tournament, our team is much younger this year. We usually take our older, more experienced players who are part of professional teams and then we will have the young ones here and there but we have more youngsters this time round,” added Davies.

The head coach is making sure that they will be prepared if the tournament takes place and if they get selected, he shared that training for the young players will start in next week.

The Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge is usually played through the month of December.

“I would like to thank our community for always supporting us. Strokes FC is one of the most supported teams in the south and this is what makes many organizers of tournaments want us there. Also, this is the only title that Strokes FC never won yet, we have won many tournaments but this one has been eluding us for quite some time. It is time that we bring the trophy home,” concluded Davies.
