The newly crowned Mrs Universe Africa preaches women empowerment

Fikile Mdiniso crowned Mrs. Universe Africa.

A 31 year old Soweto born model, Fikile Mdiniso was crowned Mrs Universe Africa on Heritage Day at the Barnyard Theatre, Menlyn, Pretoria.

Mdiniso competed with other contestants for the crown on September 24 where South Africans were celebrating their cultural differences and embracing being different. On this day she was announced a winner of the pageant while Palesa Pusoe walked away with 1st runner up title and Mokganytesi Mashele walked away with a 2nd runner up title.

The pageant also consisted of special awards categorized as Personality Award and Peoples’ Choice Award.  Voted by the finalists, Naomi Mosiane won the Personality award, while Nasiphi Nombekela walked away with People’s Choice award as voted by the people.

Speaking to the newly crowned Queen, she said, “Winning Mrs Universe Africa means I am a role model to an African girl and an example to African women that it is possible. The world will see what the essence of an African woman is through me and my journey of reign. The title is bigger than me as an individual and it will give me an opportunity to change the narrative by educating that beauty can be intellectual, intelligent, and purposeful and make an impact in society. I aim to build a culture amongst women of a sisterhood and living with beauty and purpose.”

Mdiniso’s greatest passion is in education and women empowerment. She aspires to be a leader that will continuously build a sisterhood and an army of women that build and empower their communities, because she believes women have a nurturing gift to enrich their homes and communities.

“As the crowned Mrs Universe Africa my goal is to connect, educate and empower communities, while helping women realize that their dreams are valid, no matter where they may be in their lives. It is never too late to fetch your life and fetch your dreams,” she added.

The crowned Mrs Universe Africa also believes that women are the lenses through which sons will see a woman and how daughters see themselves in the world. “The more empowered we are, the more opportunity we have in achieving a more empowered country, economy and a better world for the future generation,” she concluded.

As the crowned Queen, she will present the Africa continent at the Mrs Universe pageant in Seoul, South Korea this November. She is honoured to be entrusted with this task and is looking forward to representing Africa on the global stage.
