1-year-old mother of two and a model, Fikile Mdiniso Mpopo has made it as a Top 20 finalist for Mrs. Universe Africa.
Mpopo is a Data Engineer by profession and has been in the technology sector for over ten years after having graduated Cum Laude in her undergraduate studies at VUT.
The model is currently furthering her studies with Henley Business School in pursuit of an MBA. She is also a director at Open Eyes Girls, an NGO which seeks to help young girls and women to unlock and reach their full potential using tools such as academia and business.

“My greatest passion is in education and women empowerment. I aspire to be a leader that can build an army of women who build and empower each other. I believe that women are stronger together and with our nurturing gift from nature, we have the power to enrich our communities. As I’m running for Mrs. Universe Africa, my goal is to connect, educate and empower communities while helping women realise that their dreams are valid,” said Mpopo.
The top 20 finalist believes that women are the lenses through which a girl child sees and interacts with the world and that the more women get empowered the more hope is created for future generations.
“My biggest achievement has been mentoring students and graduates that are new to the Technology and Business industry. Seeing them progress into their competent self professionally and growing personally within corporate South Africa brings me fulfillment and purpose. Also being a part of an NGO and being able to use my knowledge, skills, and passion to touch other people’s lives,” she explained.
Though Mpopo will be competing with other contestants for the crown on September 24, the residents of Protea are asked to support one of their own by voting for her and help secures a spot in the Top10,
