J&J jab administered to Sowetans

More than 200 people vaccinated at Protea Glen Mall.

Under the current vaccine system, Sowetans are expected to register and get a jab at their nearest designated public or private vaccination sites. Protea Glen Mall became an active vaccination site catering to different age groups.

Through a Facebook post, from the Protea Glen Mall group, the community of Protea was requested to bring in their IDs to the mall and get their Covid jab last week Tuesday. The programme was also continued on Sunday, August 29. Speaking to the vaccination site manager, Sedirwa Hlongwane, she confirmed that for those two days, over two hundred people got their Johnson and Johnson vaccination.

It is in most cases known that men are scared of needles and getting vaccinated, however, the turnout from men, in this case, was quite impressive.

“The turnout from men was quite impressive, we are excited to see firstly the turnout which shows that our people have responded to our call and have decided to do what is right for their health. Looking at the numbers of the new infections that are rising by the day, hospitalisation that is rising and also deaths that are occurring in our communities, we are pleased to be offering the vaccination service at places where members can reach, hence we are conducting malls and hostels visits,” said Sedirwa.

Eddy Rikhotso, one of the community members who got vaccinated mentioned that he is excited that he got vaccinated and that the services received were quick and satisfying.
