Teenager tries to Be The Change in her community

Eldorado Park teen starts her own organisation in order to assist those in need in her community.

At only fifteen years old where she could be focused on many different other things, Keandrè Adriaanse from Eldorado Park chooses to make a difference in the community.

It is not registered as a non-profit organisation as yet, however Adriaanse is determined that her newly formed organisation will be running for many years to come.

‘Be The Change’ is the name of her organisation and said that her motivation for starting it was due to seeing many hungry people in the streets on her way to school.

“I thought to myself that I can help people by trying to get help from other people in our community. I just hope to create awareness on my organisation so that more people can get involved so that we can receive more donations. We are asking for anything that people can donate to help,” said Adriaanse.

The teenager’s idea is to collect old clothes, food items to create food parcels, and sanitary items so that she can distribute it to those who are in need in the community.

Adriaanse also mentioned that her grandmother cooks and feeds people in need every Thursdays and guesses that seeing that could have also been one of her motivations to starting her own organisation.

Since her organisation is fairly new, she hasn’t received many donations but was excited to share that her first donations came from her family.
